Mr. Mallett, Vice President and Chief Economist for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), is one of Canada’s leading experts on the confluence of economics and entrepreneurship. His Business Barometer®, a monthly tracking of small business sentiment, is widely followed by policymakers and economists around North America.

Mr. Mallett is a member of the Department of Finance private sector economist panel, an author and speaker on topics covering economic outlooks, local economic development, taxation, government fiscal conditions, demographics, technology and market research. Since joining the CFIB in 1988, Mr. Mallet has covered a wide range of public policy and economic issues, including tax policy, local government, the environment, international trade, banking, telecommunications, the workplace and entrepreneurship. He has authored numerous CFIB research and policy documents and has been a frequent speaker on small business issues at local, national and international meetings and conferences.
