What’s the difference between a labour shortage, a skills shortage, and a skills mismatch?
Labour shortages, skills shortages, and skills mismatches have been at the forefront of policy discussions in recent months. The appropriate solution, however, depends on being able to critically assess the situation at hand. With that in mind, the 3 rd instalment of LMI Insights — What’s in a name? Labour shortages, skills shortages, and skills mismatches — adds clarity to the debate by offering specific definitions for these three closely related workforce issues.
