About Erin
As part of her current portfolio, Ms. McGinn leads innovative labour market and workforce strategies that facilitate connections between the economy, education, employers and job seekers. This includes determining and disseminating high quality labour market information to identify workforce skill needs, and working to address them through new and existing employment, training and workforce development programs.
She is responsible for coordinating Ontario’s response to recommendations from the Premier’s Highly Skilled Workforce Expert Panel, which, consistent with the mandate of the Labour Market Information Council, includes working across jurisdictions on labour market information issues, identifying new sources of information and improving online resources.
Working with the federal government, provinces and territories on labour market and workforce policy issues are a significant part of Ms. McGinn’s portfolio, including support for collaboration with the Government of Canada on reformed federal-provincial labour market transfer agreements. Prior to joining the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, Ms. McGinn served as Assistant Vice-President of Communications, Government and Community Engagement at Ryerson University, from April 2013. She first joined Ryerson in 2005 as Director of the Office of the President, after holding progressively senior roles in the Office of the Premier of Ontario and the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada.
