In 2021, the Labour Market Information Council (LMIC) launched its Strategic Plan for 2021–25. The plan charts a path forward that enables LMIC to better support Canadians in navigating the world of work.
This Operational Plan for the 2022–2023 fiscal year1 outlines the objectives and activities that LMIC will undertake to make progress toward its strategic goals.
LMIC is an independent, non-profit organization established in 2017 under the directive of the Forum of Labour Market Ministers. Our aim is to work collaboratively across all orders of governments and with other stakeholders to empower Canadians to make informed decisions by enabling access to quality, relevant, comprehensive data and insights across the pan-Canadian LMI ecosystem.

Foster an innovative LMI ecosystem
This fiscal year, LMIC will focus on fostering an innovative LMI ecosystem for the career services sector—the professionals at the frontlines who are helping Canadians find training programs and explore their career options.
Labour market information is most impactful when it is personalized for individuals. Career development professionals play a key role in contextualizing and interpreting LMI. To help these professionals access, understand and use LMI, LMIC will provide innovative tools, guidance, and training.
