A curated resource of recent research on trends shaping Canada's labour market.
Canada has become a preferred destination for international students, with institutions seeing exponential growth in enrollment. Given their education, Canadian experience and proficiency in official languages, these students form a highly skilled talent pool of future permanent residents. Increasingly, international students will need enhanced and collaborative support from colleges, service providers, communities and all levels of government throughout their studies, employment and settlement journeys. Stakeholders, including international students, have formulated four key recommendations, suggesting a collaborative service delivery model that would achieve the following:
- Address structural gaps in information, policy and service delivery
- Change recruitment strategies
- Replace business models with equity-focused models
- Develop targeted services
