This backgrounder (accompanying the Feb. 14, 2019, Future Skills Centre and Council announcement) revealed that the Future Skills Council is mandated to complement existing efforts by LMIC. In the same release, our NSAP Chair, David Ticoll, was announced as a Future Skills Council member. In addition, NSAP member Mark Patterson is an interim Advisory Board Member of the Centre and the Executive Director of Magnet, a social innovation platform built to address the unemployment and under-employment of Canadians.

Le Conseil de l’information sur le marché du travail (CIMT) souhaite souligner le lancement récent du Centre des Compétences futures et du Conseil des Compétences futures. L’initiative arrive à point et fournira aux Canadiens les outils dont ils ont besoin pour réussir dans le monde changeant du travail. Nous sommes aussi fiers d’annoncer que David Ticoll, président du Groupe consultatif pancanadien des intervenants (GCPI) du CIMT, a été nommé au prestigieux Conseil des Compétences futures.

À la suite de notre article de janvier, Steven a parlé des déficits de compétences et des principales conclusions du numéro 3 de Perspectives de l’IMT en réponse à la question « S’il y a pénurie de main-d’œuvre, comment se fait-il que certaines personnes soient toujours sans travail? ».
18 février 2019 – Communiqué de presse d’Emploi et Développement social Canada : Le gouvernement du Canada prend des mesures pour que les travailleurs canadiens soient prêts à occuper les emplois de demain
Ce document d’information (qui accompagnait l’annonce du 14 février sur le Centre et le Conseil des Compétences futures) révélait que le mandat du Conseil des Compétences futures est complémentaire au travail actuel du CIMT. Dans le même communiqué, on annonçait que le président du GCPI, David Ticoll, serait membre du Conseil des Compétences futures. Aussi, Mark Patterson est membre par intérim du conseil d’administration du Centre et directeur exécutif de Magnet, une plateforme d’innovation sociale conçue pour lutter contre le chômage et le sous-emploi des Canadiens.
