Canadians have the necessary information and insights to succeed in a changing, dynamic world of work.
Mission
To empower Canadians to make informed decisions by enabling access to quality, relevant and comprehensive data and insights across the pan-Canadian LMI ecosystem.
Our
Values
Client-centric and demand-driven
We approach our work with an understanding that, for labour market insights to be impactful, they must be timely, relevant and accessible and respond to the needs of consumers, users and other providers of labour market information.
Inclusive and collaborative
We are committed to providing labour market information and insights that respect the diversity of perspectives and needs across Canada. We believe our best work comes by working in partnership with others through collaboration, and harnessing the experience, expertise, creativity and resources of all individuals, partners, governments, agencies and stakeholders.
Integrity and transparency
We lead with integrity through a relentless focus on quality and reliable labour market information and insights. Our approach is anchored in respect and understanding for the importance of openness and transparency in what we do and how we do it. We strive to ensure that our efforts and outputs are fair and objective.
Innovative and evolutionary
We are committed to developing and embracing innovative ideas, new methods and new platforms. We strive to ensure that the pan-Canadian ecosystem of labour market information evolves to meet the emerging and diverse needs of Canadians, and we make every effort to and add value to that system. To that end, we interact with Canadian labour market information users in ways that are impactful, and we measure our efforts to ensure that we continuously evolve and improve as an organization.
Strategic
Goals
LMIC enables a pan-Canadian labour market information ecosystem that responds to the needs of Canadians by helping them make better-informed decisions. To that end, the following strategic goals ensure LMIC continues to develop its role as key stakeholder and facilitator in the LMI ecosystem over the next five years:
Guide
LMI Systems
Ensure that the ecosystem responds to pan-Canadian LMI needs in an efficient manner.
We will act as a centre of innovation by testing and assessing new tools, techniques and channels to collect, analyze and disseminate labour market information. Broadly sharing our findings will support and improve the ecosystem’s ability to respond quickly and efficiently to the rapidly evolving LMI needs of Canadians.
We will work with others to identify and address LMI data gaps in the pan-Canadian ecosystem, with a focus on improving the timelines, localness and granularity of information and insights.
Enhance
LMI Practices
Promote benchmarks and guidelines to improve the quality and application of LMI.
We will research best practices related to LMI and work with partners and stakeholders to promote best practices for the production and delivery of LMI to improve accuracy and utility.
We will work with others to identify and address LMI data gaps in the pan-Canadian ecosystem, with a focus on improving the timelines, localness and granularity of information and insights.
Champion
LMI Access
Enable access and sharing of LMI data, knowledge and best practices.
We will work with partners and stakeholders to ensure Canadians have access to the full breadth and depth of high quality LMI. We will focus on improving timely access to LMI data and insights to intermediaries, stakeholders and governments.
